Professional Clinical Supervision

Qualified Counsellors

You finish a difficult session, close your notes and continue carrying the work with you.

You replay what the client said, the questions you asked and the moments you are not quite sure about.

Perhaps you are wondering whether you should have explored something further, responded differently or recognised a concern sooner. The session may be over, but part of your mind is still sitting in the counselling room.

You care deeply about doing good work. Sometimes that care creates pressure to always know the right thing to say or do.

You do not have to carry that responsibility alone.

Supervision should be somewhere you can think honestly

Even as a qualified counsellor, it can feel vulnerable to say that you are uncertain.

You may worry that asking for help will make you appear less capable. Perhaps you have experienced supervision that felt formal, intimidating or focused on being told what you should have done.

You do not need to perform competence with me.

Supervision is a place where you can speak honestly about the cases that have stayed with you, the decisions you are questioning and the parts of the work you have not fully made sense of yet.

It is also a place to step back from the demands of practice and reconnect with your clinical judgement, professional identity and confidence.

What we may explore together

Your supervision will be shaped around your role, experience, client work and professional goals.

Together, we may explore:

  • complex client presentations

  • case conceptualisation and clinical decision-making

  • therapeutic approaches, questions and interventions

  • ethical responsibilities and professional boundaries

  • risk assessment, documentation and confidentiality

  • transference, countertransference and practitioner responses

  • situations that have left you feeling stuck or emotionally affected

  • private practice, professional development and career decisions

  • practitioner wellbeing and sustainable ways of working

  • changes in your professional identity as your practice develops

Supervision is not only for difficult cases. You can also bring professional ideas, successes, changes you are considering and areas of practice you would like to strengthen.

How we will work together

My supervision style is reflective, collaborative and practical.

I will listen carefully, offer honest feedback and help you consider different perspectives and possibilities. I may gently challenge you where it supports your development, but the purpose is never to criticise or diminish your confidence.

We will look beyond finding a quick answer. Where appropriate, we will explore what is happening for the client, what may be happening within the therapeutic relationship and how your own responses can inform the work.

You remain responsible for your professional decisions while having a supportive space in which to think them through carefully.

Supervision is not about proving that you are already the finished version of a practitioner. It is an ongoing space to deepen your judgement, strengthen your practice and continue growing into the counsellor you want to be.

Finding the right supervisor is personal. Qualifications and experience matter, but so does feeling able to speak honestly, ask questions and be yourself within the relationship.

You are welcome to get in touch with us to book a complimentary 15-minute discovery call. We can have an informal conversation about your work, what you are looking for in supervision and how we might work together.

There is no pressure or obligation to book afterwards. Sometimes a conversation is simply the best way to know whether it feels like the right fit.
